This mini-symposium aims to provide a platform to discuss recent advances on the smoothed finite element methods (S-FEMs), the smoothed point interpolation methods (S-PIMs), and other advanced finite element methods.
Various other methods using strain smoothing or gradient smoothing techniques are also of interest, such as locking-free tetrahedral elements, super-convergent low-order elements, pressure checkerboarding suppression under near incompressibility, control of contact force oscillation, and long-lasting large deformation.
Mathematics in linear/non-linear finite element formulation in solid/fluid mechanics, acoustics, heat transfer, etc. will also be discussed.
